Golden has big weekend for the Mets

Kyle Golden blew up over the weekend going 8-for-8 in two games for the Dixie Boys Regions Bank Mets en route to an 11-2 win over the Mariners Friday and a 10-3 win Saturday against the Careermen’s Club Padres.

To go with Golden’s barrage, the Mets also got two pitching gems out of Tyson Pugh and Blake Phelps in the two games with Pugh downing the Mariners giving up only five hits and Phelps holding the Padres to only one hit and striking out 16.

The only two runs for the Mariners on Friday came on solo shots by Fernando White and Chance Kelley. Brian Matney and Chris Rhodes also had hits for the Mariners. while Jake Kitchens went 2-for-4 and Morgan Sanders and Herbert Ward had hits for the Mets.

Saturday Luke Sanders was the only thing standing in Phelps’ way of a no-hitter while Phelps, David Folmar and Sanders had hits for the Mets.

Cardinals 19, Rockies 3

Pete Van Horn went 4-for-4 Saturday with three round-trippers, a double and seven RBI’s in the Ward’s Yahmaha-Honda Cardinals pounding of the Wise Printing Rockies 19-3.

Chris Booker added a 3-for-4 day with Daniel Hussey notching a double and a triple, Matt Johnson a triple and a single and Josh Rodgers with a single. Casey Kreis went 2-for-3 for the Rockies.

DIXIE YOUTH

White Sox 6, Orioles 0

Chase Rogers got the season started off right for the Rogers Co. White Sox slapping a lead-off home run in the top of the first as they beat the Murphree Bridge Corp. Orioles 6-0 Friday.

John Campbell got the win for the Sox pitching three innings and striking out seven.

Rogers was 2-for-3 while the Sox got hits from Judson Ricks, Campbell, Aaron Barr, T.J. Sneed and Devon Miller. Cooper Nichols roped a double for the Orioles while Sam Campbell also had a hit.

Pirates 7, Reds 3

Chris Davis pitched the B&W Electric Pirates to a 7-3 win over the Lyncoach Reds giving up only five hits and striking out 11.

The Pirates got a double and a single out of Josh Dykes and a double from both Hawkins Drinkard and Levi Davidson. Chase Bradley had a single.

Tony Gillo had a double for the Reds and Clay Helms, Foster Styron, S. McClure and Justin Samples all had singles. Helms stuck out seven on the mound.

Cardinals 10, Pirates 1

The Wallace Pump & Supply Cardinals blew out the Pirates on Saturday 10-1.

Jerad Loftin brought the power with a 2-for-3 showing and a home run while Chad Jordan pitched a complete game 2-hitter for the Cards striking out 12.

Zack Ethridge had two hits and Jim Wallace, Jordan, Andrew Powell, Chris Ward and Percy Lee all had hits for the Cards. Drinkard and Davis had hits for the Pirates.

Cardinals 11, Indians 4

After falling behind 4-0 the Cardinals came back to score three in the third and eight in the fifth to oust the Indians 11-4.

The Cards got multiple hit games from Loftin, Ethridge, Wallace, Powell and Jordan. Tony Billins, Ward and Jeffrey Davis also had hits. Chris Griggs, Ryan Hayden and Brad Bradberry all had hits for the Indians.

DIXIE MINOR

Dodgers 4, Reds 3

With three runs in their final at bat, the Ross Landscaping Dodgers pulled out a 4-3 win over the Hudson Companies Reds Thursday.

Winning pitcher Jeremy McGuire pitched all six innings striking out 11 and only allowing two hits. He got some defensive help from David Fleming in the first with a double play that ended a bases-loaded threat by the Reds.

William Teal had the game-winning single for the Dodgers while Brad Coy and Johnathan Wade both had hits for the Reds.

Dodgers 4, Reds 3

On Friday, Teal got the win on the mound K’ing 10 and allowing two hits in the 6-2 win over the Braves.

The Braves got hits from Brandon Bundy and David Williams. McQuire and Zack Herring had hits for the Dodgers.
