STARKEVILLE, Miss. ­ The Troy State men and women’s track and field programs spent its Saturday at the Bulldog Invitational hosted by Mississippi State. The women finished fourth, while the men claimed third.

On the women’s side, Troy State got victories in the 3,000-meter run and high jump. Kelly Heinzman ran 10:34.05 in the 3,000 meters to win by six-plus seconds over Mississippi State’s Ronnie Watjus.

Alisha Denson continued her fine spring at the high jump winning at a height of 5’8". Amanda Mason claimed second in the javelin with a throw of 37.42 meters.

The men’s best finish came in the 400-meter hurdles and high jump. Mike Finley (54.9) and Zach Vann (55.9) finished second and third in the 400 meters, while Chris Brongel’s jump of six feet even claimed second in the high jump.

Both squads will be in action at home next Saturday, Apr. 8, for the Troy State/Nike Invitational at Memorial Stadium.
