Funeral home damaged in three-car wreck

A three vehicle accident at the intersection of George Wallace Drive and Corman Avenue in Troy, ended with one vehicle colliding with Skeen Funeral Home.

At press time investigations by the Troy Police Department revealed that a 1991 Ford Explorer exited Corman Avenue into the south bound lane of George Wallace Drive striking a 1984 Chevy Blazer, which was traveling south. The Explorer was driven by Marley Leanne Nolin of Troy, and the Blazer ws driven by Yolanda Walke, also of Troy.

Sgt. Benny Scarbrough, public information officer for the Troy Police Department, said after the initial collision, for some unknown reason the driver of the Blazer backed away from the scene into the parking lot of Skeen Funeral Home striking an unoccupied 1996 Mazda. The rear of the Blazer then struck the Skeen Funeral Home building causing severe structural damage, Scarbrough said.

Three individuals were transported by Haynes Ambulance to Edge Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Scarbrough said at the time he did not know the status of the injuries, but they did not appear to be life threatening.

The Troy Police Department responded to the wreck call at 11:39 a.m. yesterday. The accident is still under investigation by the Troy Police Department.
