Suspect charged with more robberies

The 18-year-old put behind bars Monday afternoon on robbery charges has been charged with three additional counts.
Dezra Q. Tellis, 18, of Troy was arrested by the Troy Police Department Monday and charged with first-degree robbery in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred Feb. 29 at approximately 9:15 p.m.
The alleged incident involving two other suspects and occurred in the vicinity of the Winn Dixie Marketplace and Dozier Trailer Park on Highway 231.
According to information released by Sgt. Benny Scarbrough, public information officer for the TPD, the victim was reportedly robbed at gunpoint by individuals who demanded money.
Bond for Tellis was set at $100,000 on that count.
Tellis, who is in the Pike County Jail, has also charged with robbery in connection with incidents that occurred on June 24, 1999, Sept. 17, 1999 and Feb. 28, 2000. Bond on each of those has been set at $50,000.
Troy Police Chief Anthony Everage commended the officers involved in making the arrest for their hard work.
Between Jan. 1 and the end of February, 11 robberies were reported in the Troy city limits. During those same two months in 1999, only four robberies were reported.
