PLAS Lady Patriots fall

9-1 in first action of the season

Edgewood Academy defeated the Pike Liberal Lady Patriots in softball yesterday by the final score of 9-1.
Edgewood pitcher Brittany Hodge was tough on the mound for the Lady Wildcats as she struck out nine PLAS batters, including three straight in the bottom of the second.
In the top of the third, the Lady Wildcats took advantage of a few Pike Liberal Arts defensive errors and went to work at the plate. They scored four runs to take a commanding 6-0 lead over the home-standing Lady Patriots and never let up.
Pike Liberal’s best chance to cut into Edgewood’s lead came in bottom of the third as the Lady Patriot’s were able to get three runners on base but could manage only one run, that coming when PLAS pitcher Audrey Adams scored on a ground out to the infield.
After the Adams score, the Lady Wildcats were able to hold the Pike Liberal Arts girls scoreless the rest of the way and close out the game with three runs in the final two innings.
