William Gilbert Sellers

William Gilbert Sellers, 95, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000 at his home in Ramer.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. at Ramer United Methodist Church with the Revs. Lynn Smilie Nesbitt, Larry D. Bennett, and Sean Rezek presiding. Burial will follow in Ramer Cemetery. Leak Memorial Chapel in Montgomery is handling arrangements.

Survivors include, wife Emma Lee Petrey Sellers; son and daughter-in-law, Gilbert and Ethel Sellers Jr. of Ramer; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Emma and Loyd Smilie of Montgomery; sister, Bunah Mae Armistead of Ramer; grandchildren, Lynn Smilie Nesbitt (Charles) of Dothan, Lee Ann Runyeon (Richard) of Franklin, Tenn., Gilbert Sellers III (Martha) of Troy; Lucinda Smilie Bollinger (David) of Montgomery, Mary Loyd Bush of Montgomery, Susan Sellers Windham (Paul) of Montgomery; great-grandchildren, Leah and David Nesbitt, Rich, Russell and Rex Runyeon, Christy, Sam, and Sara Sellers, Alex, Tyler, and Avery Windham.

Pallbearers will be Bert Tuner, and nephews, Col. S. E. Armistead Jr., Edward Sellers, Walton Sellers, Joseph Armistead, and Davis Sellers.

He had been married for 70 years. He was a lifelong resident of Ramer and a member of Ramer United Methodist Church.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Ramer United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 90, Ramer, AL 36069, or to South Montgomery County Academy, Box 1, Grady, AL 36036, or to one’s favorite charity.

The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Fannie L. Cowles

Fannie L. Cowles, 96, died Jan. 29, 2000 at her home in Lakeland, Fla.

Her funeral will be graveside at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 2 at Green Hills Memorial Park with Minister Randal Myers presiding. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.

Survivors include son Thomas D. Cowles, Jr.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Thomas D. Cowles. She was born in Troy on Jan. 23, 1904. She was a kindergarten teacher for 13 years and a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She moved to Lakeland 22 years ago. She was a member of the Edgewood Church of Christ.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 10:50 Wednesday.
