Jane G. Stephens, 65, of Rt. 1 Box 82 of Glenwood died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999.

Her funeral was held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 24 at Bluff Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Elbert Smith presiding. Burial followed at Henderson Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include, husband, James W. Stephens, Sr. of Glenwood; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Michael Sanders of Goshen; son and daughter-in-law, James W., Jr. and Marilyn Stephens of Elba; grandchildren, Melissa Sanders, Mary Beth Sanders, Julie Sanders, Jamie Sanders, Brian and Chris Rhodes; sisters, Eavie Ammons of Troy; Ivy Fuller of Opp; Ann Maule of Jacksonville, Fla.; brothers, Lamar Grant of Glenwood; and Gilmer Grant of Glenwood.

Joyce Johnson Drinkard

Joyce Johnson Drinkard, 62, of 503 State Ave. in Troy died at her home on Friday, Dec. 24, 1999.

Her funeral was held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 27 at the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Locklar presiding. Burial followed at Green Hills Memorial Park on Hwy 29.

Survivors include, husband, Kenneth Drinkard of Troy; daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Bryant Herndon of Atlanta; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Theresa Drinkard of Cordele, Ga.; grandchildren, Christian and Josef Drinkard; three sisters and brother-in-laws, Madolin (M.W.) Skinner of Goshen; Eloise (Bruce) Inman of Jacksonville, Fla.; Nadine (Richard) Johnson of Goshen; brother and sister-in-law, Ned (Janie) Johnson of Abilene, Texas; sister-in-law, Frances Johnson of Huntsville, Ala.

Pallbearers were Richard T. Johnson, Jr.; Charles B. Johnson; Wade Henderson; David Fiveash; Lance W. Herndon; William Nelson; and Wyatt Herndon.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 26 at Dillard Funeral Home.

Annette Y. Lamontagne

Annette Y. Lamontagne, 72, of Rt. 2 in Brundidge, died Saturday, Dec. 25 at her residence.

Her funeral was held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 at St. Martin Catholic Church with Father Chuck McCabe presiding. Burial will follow at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29 at St. Louis De Gonzague Cemetery in Nashua, N.H. Skeen Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Marianne and Harvey Kellogg of Brundidge; son, Frank Lamontagne of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Sunday at the home of her daughter, Marianne Kellogg.

Memorials may be made to Wiregrass Hospice.

Ruthie Lee Harrington

Ruthie Lee Harrington, 59, of 313 S. Brundidge St. in Troy died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery.

Her Funeral will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 28 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Troy with the Rev. A. C. Johnson presiding. Burial will follow at Elam Baptist Cemetery in Springhill. George F. Grubbs Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Survivors include, husband, John Harrington, daughters, Nadine (Jose’) Milan; and Jeanette Smalls of Jersey City; Armour Jean (Charlie Joe) Jackson; Deirdre (Robert) Thornton; and Nicole (Albert) Jones of Troy; sons, John Harrington, Jr.; Howard Harrington; and Issac Harrington all of Jersey City; sisters, Janice (Clayton) Saylor; Paulette Roberson of Troy; brother, Willie Morris Head of Troy; aunts, Jessie Ree Roberson; Willie Green McBride; uncles, Jerry and Howard Head; Ray Ellas and Barney Roberson; six brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was born on April 8, 1940 in Pike County to the late Emma Lov Roberson and Walter Head. She received her early years of education at the Academy St. High School in Troy. After moving back to Troy from Jersey City, she joined the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation was 12 noon, on Monday, Dec. 27 at the funeral home.

James Herman Shows, 58, a resident of Luverne died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999 at his residence.

His funeral was at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 26 at the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Minister Charles Box presiding. Turner Funeral Home of Luverne handled arrangements.

Survivors include wife, Anita Garner Shows; children, Terri and Ricky Bagents; Richard and Kerri Shows; Deborah and Danny Rushing; Jamie Shows all of Luverne; mother, Voncile Kelley Shows of Luverne; grandchildren, Morgan and Austin Shows; Chase and Kendyll Rushing; Amanda Butts; Eric and Ryan Bagents.

Pallbearers were Larry Johnson, Tim Blackwell, Gene McHenry; Darren Bolling, Joey Knox and Jackie Ray Smith.

Honorary pallbearers were Lamar Bolling, Percy Newton, R. D. Owens, Billy Carpenter, Leroy Blackwell, William Lester, Allen Kelley, Don McHenry, and Larry Shirley.

John Freeman Boutwell

John Freeman Boutwell, 91, of 505 Cord #201 in Jack died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999 at Edge Regional Center.

His funeral was at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 27 at Hebron Baptist Church in Troy with the Revs. Ray Stinson and Keith Price presiding.

Survivors include daughters, Louise Spear of Jack; Sarah Pittman of Troy; Shirley Nelson of Rocksborough, N.C. and Patricia Boutwell of Jack; sons, Rayford Boutwell of Ozark; Rendall Boutwell of Troy; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; several other close relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a son.

Visitation was 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 26 at Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge.

Lorenza Maulden

Lorenza Maulden, 89, of Route 2 Box 88 in Brundidge died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999 at Dale Medical Center.

His funeral was held at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 27 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Cronier presiding. Burial followed at Shady Grove Baptist Cemetery.

Survivors include daughters, Mildred Bullard of Andalusia; Jean Wilson of Brundidge; Barbara Norton of Montgomery; son, Jake Maulden of Brundidge; sisters, Beanie Faircloth of Brundidge; Gaynell Anderson of Brundidge; brother, Paul Maulden of Brundidge; 18 granchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James Bullard, Brent Maulden, Gerry Maulden, Terry Maulden, Loren Williams, and Bruce Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, three sons, and a grandson.

Robert K. T. Cole, Sr.

Robert K. T. Cole, Sr., 78, of 703 Elm Street in Troy died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999 at his home.

His funeral was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 26 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Ministers George Merritt, Randall Myers, and Jon Hackett presiding. Burial followed at Green Hills Cemetery in Troy.

Survivors include wife, Vivian Lee Cole of Troy, daughter Vivianne Stroud of Troy; son, Robert K. T. Cole, Jr. (Linda) of Troy; daughter, Carol Middleton (Melvin) of Uriah, Ala; grandchildren, Robert K. T. Cole, III (Renee) of Freeport, Maine; Christopher Cole (Dana Leigh) of Birmingham; David Stroud of Birmingham; Jennifer Garrison (Haston) of Birmingham; Ryan Cole (Tracie) of Camp Hill, Ala.; Stephanie Middletown of Troy; Cynthia Burkett of Troy; Amy Cole of Troy; Mark Cole of Troy; sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Maurice Valentine of Arkansas; and great-grandchild, Devin Alexander Cole.

He was a 32 degree Mason and Member of Alcazar Shrine Temple.

Lillie Mae Hardimon

Lillie Mae Hardimon, 63, of Route 7 Box 56 in Troy died Tuesday, Dec. 21 at her home.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29 at Springfield Baptist Church in Ansley with Rev. Donny Harris presiding. Burial will follow at Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery. Harrison Funeral Home will be handling arrangements.

Survivors include sisters, Carrie Jackson; Alma L. Hampton; nieces, Annie M. Flynn; Gloria A. Burr; Mary A. Scaife; Martha A. Hampton; nephew, L. White; great niece, Teasia Scaife, six great-nephews; Chris Hampton; Antonio Hampton; Junior Howard; Rodgers Howard; Rashard Scaife; David Fylnn; several cousins and many friends; uncle George Mitchell; and special friend of the family, Mrs. Catherine Booth.

She was born on Feb. 22, 1936 in Pike County to Ella Jackson and J. J. Jackson. She attended Springfield Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28. The body will lie-in-state at the church one hour prior to service.

Marlin Mehaffey

Marlin Mehaffey, 94, of Troy died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

His funeral arrangements will be announced later by Skeen Funeral Home of Troy.

Survivors include sons, Alton Mehaffey of Troy; Charles William Mehaffey of Troy; A. D. Mehaffey of Cross City, Fla.; A. C. Mehaffey of Troy; J. R. mehaffey of Troy; daughters, Bulah Mae Bundy of Troy; Mary Roten of Troy; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Pearl M. Mehaffey; son, L. D. Mehaffey; daughter, Mildred Mehaffey; and grandson, Ricky Mehaffey.

Lewis Wood

Lewis Wood, 62, of 241 Beaver Creek Road died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999 at Flowers Hospital.

His funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Coley Holloway presiding. Burial with full Alabama State Troopers honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

Survivors include wife, Ann Wood of Dothan; sons, Bryan Wood; Chris Wood; Bobby Wood all of Dothan; daughter, Debbie Wood of Dothan; mother, Eunice Wood of Samson; grandchildren, Hope Thomley; Bo Thomley; Shea Bell; Jamie Wood; Emily Wood; brothers, Nick Wood, Royce Wood all of Samson; several nieces and nephews.

He was born on Nov. 9, 1937 in Samson and was a graduate of Samson High School. His law enforcement career began as a Florida State Trooper where he served for seven years and later as a Alabama State Trooper from 1964 until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of Retired Alabama State Trooper Association and the Alabama Peace Officer Association. He was preceded in death by his father, Ben Wood.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
