The Lady Trojans of Charles Henderson High School are 2-2, but going into their first area game of the season, head coach Dyneshia Jones feels they are ready to really start playing her style of basketball.

Even in their loss to Jeff Davis earlier in the week, Jones saw her team play better than they have all season.

"As they year goes on they’ll get better and better," Jones said. "They’re right at that point where I expect them to get there. In the loss against Jeff Davis this week they played the best ever, Jeff Davis just scored more points than we did. I was very proud of the way they played."

Against Wetumpka Jones feels that since the two teams faced each other four times last year both squads should be more than ready for each other.

"They’re ready for them and ready to get started on the area," Jones said. "The last time we played them we beat them so they’ll come out wanting us really bad. We’ve got to be smart and want them even more. We have to go in with a winning attitude.

"If they have any doubts in their mind they won’t win," she continued. "They know what they’re all about, they played them four times last year they should know everything about them."

In the boys’ game, head coach Carl Hollis brings a humbled, but hungry 1-4 Trojan team to Wetumpka for their first area matchup.

With a new head coach at WHS Hollis isn’t completely sure what to expect, but he is used to Wetumpka always having size and strength.

"They’re always big and usually a very strong team," Hollis said. "I don’t know how it’s going to turn out. I just know it’s going to be hard to beat Wetumpka at Wetumpka."

The Trojans keep plugging despite their early problems and Hollis hopes that his team learns a lesson from their early troubles.

"We’ve got a few hurt and sick, but they’re holding their own," Hollis said. "Mentally we haven’t lost hope yet. We’re not quite where we want to be right now, but we’re trying to get there and that’s all you can do at this point. The Experience they’ve gotten so far should start to help them now. If they use it the right way it will help. It will help us grow as a team. You don’t always learn from the positive things, but sometimes the negative stuff teaches us a lesson. I hope that will happen to this group."
