Julia Beard Johnson, 84, of Rt.1 Box 253 in Goshen died at Jackson Hospital after a brief illness on Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999.

Graveside services were at Hopewell Cemetery in Henderson, Saturday, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. with Elder J.P. Morgan and Rev. Marvin Jackson officiating.

She is survived by her husband, Curry Johnson of Goshen; son, Curry Anthony Johnson of Goshen; four daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Ralph Richburg of Troy; Jane and Charles L. Wilson of Goshen; Julane and Johnny Key of Montevallo; Lynn and Chris Monaco of Weatherford, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Roy Beard; five sisters; Ina Drinkard; Louise Calhoun; Irene Richburg; Mary Edna Shirley; Hazel Pouncey; all of Troy.

She was preceded in death by parents, John J. and Nettie King Beard and brother, Lawton Beard.

Visitation was at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy on Sat. Dec. 4 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hopewell Cemetery Fund or Henderson Baptist Church Building Fund.

Una Pinckard McPherson

Una Pinckard McPherson of 2501 Henderson Hwy in Troy died at Edge Regional Medical Center on Friday, Dec. 3, 1999.

Services were at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Greg Aman and Dr. Don Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy.

Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Vicki McPherson of Troy; grandchildren, Jim and Tina McPherson of Troy; Ashlee and John Henderson of Troy; great-grandchild, Tyler McPherson of Troy; brother and sister-in-law, Ervin and Edna Pinckard of Hopewell; sister, Effie Scanlon of Farmington, N.M.; sister-in-law, Imy Pinckard of Troy.

Pallbearers were, Ronnie Pinckard; Curt Pinckard; Benny Pinckard; Mike Harrell; Bill Whitt; David Pinckard; Ronnie Goolsby; James B. Pinckard.

Visitation was at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy, Sat. Dec. 4, 1999 from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Hephzibah Baptist Church.

Stanley Charles Martin Sr. (Boo Boo)

Stanley Charles Martin Sr. (Boo Boo), 48, of 310 Hubbard Street died at VA Medical Center in Montgomery on Nov. 30, 1999.

Services will be Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. at Greater St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Troy with Pastor Bobby Cox, Jr. ofciating and Harrison Funeral Home Directing. Burial will follow at Carroll Street Cemetery.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Stanley Jr. and Shenita Martin of Parris Island, S.C.; grandsons, Brandon Damon and Devin Martin of Parris Island, S.C.; granddaughter, Anna Martin of Troy; brother, Maurice Stringer of Montgomery; grandmother, Willie Mae Gardner of Cleveland; uncle, Harvey Gardner of Cleveland; great-aunts, Minnie Clarks of Cleveland; Mildred Brantley of Troy; Anita Copeland of Chicago; Dorothy Lampkin and Carol Lee Shirley both of Hamilton, Ohio; mother-in-law, Alice Jones; two brothers-in-law, Willie F. Jones and Dereck Jones of Troy; nephews, Dexter Jones and Curtis Jones of Troy; nieces Valerie James of Birmingham; Al and LaTasha James of Troy; cousin Idell Harris of Troy; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers will be the Class of 1969.

Floralbearers will be friends of the family.

He was born on Sept. 20, 1951 in Pike Co. His parents were Thurnor Martin and Mary Elizibeth Gardner. He was in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Greater St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Troy.

Visitation will be Dec. 5 from noon until 6 p.m. and will lie-in-state from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Dec. 6.

Jane Jernigan Brantley

Jane Jernigan Brantley, 86, of 317 Murphree Street, Troy, died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999 at her home.

Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 6, 1999 at First Baptist Church of Troy with the Rev. Dr. Ed Walter presiding. Burial will follow the service at Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy. The body will lie in state 30 minutes preceeding the funeral. Dillard Funeral Home of Troy is handling arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. J.A. Brantley of Troy; two daughters, Wiley Brantley White of Montgomery and Jacqueline Brantley of Troy; three sons, Dr. J.C. Brantley of Troy, Phillip Jernigan Brantley of Knoxville, Tenn., and Neal Kemp Brantley of Montgomery; 11 grandchldren, Hunter White, Luke White, Dr. Bess Diebel, Matthew White, Paul Brantley, Abner White, Libby Brantley, Scott Brantley, Daniel Brantley, Andrew Brantley, and Patrick Brantley; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church of Troy or to the donor’s favorite charity.

Dec. 4, 1999 10 PM
