William Henry Grissette
William Henry Grissette, 59, of Troy, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at his home.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at Springhill Baptist Church with the Rev. Mack Lowery officiating. Burial followed at Springhill Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Survivors include his mother, Fannie Lou Grissette of Troy; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Kendall Austin of Troy and Karen and Randolph McLendon Jr. of Troy; eight grandchildren, Christopher and Tiffany Boswell of Troy, Blake and Brandy Austin of Troy, April Beasley of Montgomery, Faith McLendon of Troy, Lindsey McLendon of Troy, Randolph McLendon III of Troy; ex-wife, Peggy Grissette of Montgomery; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Richard Courson, Dave Grissette, Robert Boswell, Marty Flowers, Leon Turvin and Jeff McCann. Honorary pallbearers were the Banks Masonic Lodge.
The body will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service.
Travis Durell Ivey
Travis Durell Ivey, 80, formerly of Elamville, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, in Montgomery.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. , Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Holmes Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Earles officiating and Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Slawson Ivey of Montgomery; daughters and sons-in-law, Faye Ivey and Charles C. Rowe of Montgomery, Joy Ivey and Jimmy H. Baker of Montgomery; granddaughters, Kim Baker Ellis of Birmingham, Ivey Baker of Birmingham; great-grandson, Barry Paul Ellis III of Birmingham; brothers, Amerine C. Ivey of Clio, Ralphel Ivey of Clio; a sister, Lillian Ivey Baker of Clio.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Baker, Johnny Ivey, Kenneth Ivey, Naaman Ivey, Billy Price, Carl Price, Andy Slawson and Guice Slawson.
Louise Nicholson
Louise Nicholson, 69, of Brundidge, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Wilkins, Rex Godwin and Johnny Fortune officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.
Survivors include her husband Wilbur Nicholas of Brundidge; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and John Kimbrough of Daleville; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Carol Nicholson of Ozark; three sisters, Dorothy Myer of Minneapolis, Minn., Dixie Falk of Phenix City, Barbara Michaels of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three brothers, Irwin Davis of Columbus, Ga., Jack Davis of Dothan, Morgan (Pete) Davis of Union Springs; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Kimbrough, Carl Windham, Bill Johnston, Bobby Childree, Zackory McDaniel and Brady McDaniel.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge.
Judy Elaine Beavers Sims
Judy Elaine Beavers Sims, 55, of Grady, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Cedar Cemetery in Bessemer with the Rev. S.J. Campbell officiating and Leak-Memory Chapel of Montgomery directing.
Survivors include her husband, Richard "Joe" Sims of Grady; five sons, Kenneth W. (Cathy) Carter of Grady, Donald (Cindy) Carter of McCalla; Phillip (Robyn) Wilson of Millbrook, Gerald (Denise) Wilson of Verbena, Mike (Sherye) Sims of Hampstead, Md.; three daughters, Mikki Sumerlin of Summerlin; Mimi Sims of Austin, Texas, Gina (Terry) Lindsey of Montgomery; parents, Hubert and Edna Beavers of Bessemer; two brothers, Ray (Paula) Beavers of Inverness, Phillip (Mary) Beavers of Bessemer; two sisters, Sherry (Billy) Boyd of McCalla, Connie (Charlie) Wyatt of Bluff Ridge; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Leak-Memory Chapel. Family and friends will meet at the graveside.
Michael Carter Veasey
Michael Carter Veasey, 58, of Troy, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Dillard Funeral Home of Troy with the Rev. Dave Kirby officiating. Burial will follow at Hills Chapel Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Survivors include his wife, Julanne Browder Veasey of Troy; three daughters, Dawn Veasey of Troy, Amanda Ward of Brundidge, Tracey Renfroe of Banks; two sons, James Veasey of Troy, Michael C. Veasey II of Troy; one sister and brother-in-law, Toby and Jewell Griffin of Troy; one brother and sister-in-law, Earl H. and Missy Veasey of Allen, Texas, and grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Davis, John Swindall, James Browder, Richard Register, Joe Coker and Pete Gibson.

Sonya Gautney Williams
Sonya Gautney Williams, 31, Dothan, died Sunday, October 3, 1999, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Mann officiating. Burial will follow in Peaceful Acres of Opp with Byrd Funeral Home directing.
Williams was born August 17, 1968 in Covington County and lived the early years of her life in Opp. She was a 1986 graduate of Opp High School and a 1990 graduate of Troy State University with a bachelor’s degree in math and science. She later earned her master’s degree from Troy State University Dothan in 1996. Williams was employed with Dothan City Schools at Beverly Middle School where she was a seventh-grade teacher. At the time of her death she was employed with Southeast Alabama Regional Inservice Center at Troy State. Williams was a member of NEA, Kappa Delta Pi and Selma Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jeffrey Williams of Dothan; a daughter, Kennedy Ann Williams of Dothan; her parents, Billy and Shirley Gautney of Opp; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Bailey, and Lorene Gautney, all of Opp; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Maxwell and Pam Williams of Marianna, Fla; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Williams was predeceased by her grandfather, Leon Gautney who died in 1993.
