The Arts Council, in conjunction with Troy State University, has announced programs for the 1999-2000 season.

Special treats include the duo-piano team of Rogers and Morrison, Chinese Acrobats, the combined performances of Brahm’s Requiem by the Community Chorus and Collegiate Singers and Perfect Harmony by Sheila Jackson, Christine Barron and Kathy Ryals.

Besides sponsoring a variety of programs, the Arts Council provides scholarships to local art students, children’s theater at Troy Elementary School , art grants to Troy and Pike County Schools, support of drama at Charles Henderson High School.

You can see the variety of ways the Arts Council enriches our cultural lives in Troy.

Presently, the Arts Council is conducting a membership and season tickets drive. We support the organization in its efforts and encourage all citizens to participate in the council’s programs in one way or another.

Many Troy residents received a Calendar of Events and Patron Season Ticket Subscription form in the mail. If you did not and would like to learn more about the Arts Council’s offerings, you may call Elaine blair at 566-0834 or David Dye at 670-3869.

Purchasing season tickets is a great way to support the Arts Council. And it lets you see the wide range of artistic talents Pike County has to offer.

By contributing between $75 and $84, you will be at the Promoter level and receive one ticket to all events. By giving between $85 and $149 you will be a Patron and receive one ticket to each event. You get two tickets when contributing at the Grand Patron level – $150 to $249 – and four tickets when you contribute at the Benefactor level – $250 and higher.

All contributors receive recognition for their gifts in programs at each event.

Besides donating money to the Arts Council, you can attend its events and encourage your friends to do likewise.

Art enriches all of our lives, and we appreciate Arts Council members for their efforts.
