Will O. "Dock" Powell
OPELIKA – Will O. "Dock" Powell, 77 of Opelika died Thursday, September 23, 1999 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 1999, at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel with the Rev. Bob Ryan and the Rev. Wayne Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Garden Hills Cemetery with Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home directing.
He was born October 28, 1921 in Elmore County, Alabama. He had lived in Opelika for 48 years. He served in the Army in World War 2 in the European Territory until 1945 as Sgt. He was a life member of V.F.W. #5404, the American Legion #152 for 48 years and the M.O.C. Pup Tent #5. He was a member of Pepperell United Methodist Church. He was married to Vonceal (Carmack) Powell for 57 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Vonceal C. Powell; three daughters, Brenda (Sam) Pridgen; Sheila (Larry) Wilson of Opelika; Janice (Larry) Blakeney of Troy; nine grandchildren, Keith (Carol) Pridgen; Scott (Kim) Pridgen; Tony (Tonya) Greathouse; Randall (Staci) Greathouse of Opelika; Karen Pridgen; Kelley and Julie Taylor of Birmingham; Tiffany Taylor of Atlanta; Jeremy (Jennifer) Wilson of Rhode Island; five great-grandchildren, Trace and Logan Pridgen; Kayla Greathouse; Josh Taylor and Chelsi Garner; one brother, Sanford (Evelyn) Powell of Montgomery and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Hospice of Lee County.
Visitation will be held between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., Friday, September 24, 1999, at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.

HAYNEVILLE – Lorenza Reynolds, 58, of Brundidge died Thursday, September 23, 1999.
Funeral services and survivors will be announced by Bell’s, Liptrot-Dawson Funeral Home.
Murray Edward Gibson
Murray Edward Gibson, 44, of Goshen died Monday, September 20, 1999, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 23, 1999, at The Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Steve Carson officiating. Burial will follow at Old Lebanon Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing.
Survivors include his parents, Robert and Madge Gibson of Ansley; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Kathy Gibson of Milton, Fla.; two nieces, Leigh Brooks and Rachel McLeod; one nephew, Allen Gibson; one great-niece and two great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Head, Reynolds Rushing, Jason Rushing, Arnold Adams, Patrick Lucas and Charles Sanders.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Gene Jones and Leo Parker.
Visitation will be held between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m., Thursday, September 23, 1999, at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.
