Lillie Mae Penn

Lillie Mae Penn, 80, of Goshen died Sunday, August 29, 1999, at Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, September 2, 1999, at Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Goshen with the Rev. Julius Buskey officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing.

She was born May 5, 1919 in Union Springs and was the daughter of Mack and Lillie B. Jackson Barker. She attended the Pike County schools. She was employed for 19 years at Goshen High School. She was a member of Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Goshen and her hobbies included choir singing and she was second runner up in LNF Beauty Pageant.

Survivors include one loving and devoted daughter, Dorothy Jackson (James) of Goshen; three granddaughters, Shelisa Turner (Gilmer), Lajoyce Boykins (Bobbie), Colinda Porter; two sisters, Annie Jewel Saulsberry and Eunice Hooks; six grandchildren, Brittney Boykins, Quenesha Boykins, Shameya Boykins, Joshua Moultry, William Marsh, Sydney Turner; three sisters-in-law, Lizzie Mae Barker, Ruby Hayes, Iona Flowers; 12 nieces, eight nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Floralbearers will be nieces and friends.

Visitation will be held from 2 until 6 p.m., Wednesday, September 1, 1999, and will lie-in-state from 12 until 1 p.m. funeral hour. There will be a repass for the family in the church fellowship hall after interment.

John William Thompson

John William Thompson, 35, of Brundidge died Monday, August 30, 1999, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 1, 1999, at Hamilton Crossroads Church of Christ with Bro. Robert Curry, Bro. Ronnie Tidwell and the Rev. Harry Pace officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.

Survivors include his wife, Melissa B. Thompson of Brundidge; mother, Frances C. Thompson of Brundidge; father and step-mother, Buren and Oline Thompson of Banks, one step-brother and sister-in-law, Titus and Gloria Griffen of Troy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Nancy) Breedlove of Ozark; sister-in-law, Caroline Faison of Houston, Texas; brother-in-law, Charlie Breedlove Jr. of Auburn; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 31, 1999, at Skeen Funeral Home in Brundidge.
