Margaret Anderson Hay
Margaret Anderson Hay, 95, of Troy died Tuesday, August 10, 1999 at her home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 13, 1999, at First United Methodist Church of Troy with the Rev. Danny Doss officiating and Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
She was born on January 28, 1904 in Madison, Georgia. She served as a postmaster in Georgia until her retirement in 1970. She was a member of Troy First United Methodist Church and served on the Administrative Board. She was a member and past regent of the Oliver Wiley Chapter, DAR, Member of the Captain Thomas Carter, Sr. Chapter DAC, past member of UDC, Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, Florabunda Garden Club, 19th Century Club, St. Andrew’s Society, Clan Hay Society, and Clan Anderson Society. She served as a Troy State University Centennial Lady.
Survivors include a daughter, Jacqueline Hay Quarles of Troy; two grandchildren, Susan Haden Quarles and William Shelton Quarles, both of Troy.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Draper of Melbourne Beach, Fla., Gene Ragan of Dothan, Billy Ragan of Cuthbert, Ga., H.J. Middleton Jr. of Blakely, Ga., Alfred Holston, Ray Sullivan, Tommy Dillard, Elbert Williams, and Stephen Parker, all of Troy.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Troy, 213 N. Three Notch Street, Troy, Ala. 36081, and Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Box 1047, Troy, Ala. 36081.
Visitation will be held between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., Friday, August 13, 1999, at First United Methodist Church.
Squire "Dave" Jones
Squire "Dave" Jones, a resident of Brundidge died Thursday, August 12, 1999. Funeral services and survivors will be announced by Bell’s Liptrot/Dawson Funeral Home.
Gussie Lee Rodgers
Gussie Lee Rodgers, 80, of Troy died Monday, August 9, 1999 at Jackson Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 14, 1999, at St. Paul A.M.E. Church with Rev. Bobby Cox, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Carroll Street Cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing.
She was born September 5, 1918 in Bullock County and was the daughter of Sallie B. Grider Faulks and George Barker. She attended the county schools and was employed by the Troy City School and Pike County Jail. She was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing and yard work.
Survivors include two sons, Jim A. (Rebecca) Rodgers of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; Jack (Roberta) Rodgers of Hamilton, Ohio; one daughter, Vivian Rodgers of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Trennia Rodgers of Troy; Nicole McGrady of Dayton Ohio; Holly Rodgers Wright of Troy; Jacquelyn Rodgers (Johnny) Davis of Troy; Lawanda (Billy) Rodgers of Atlanta, Ga.; Shayna Rodgers of Brundidge; Jim A. Rodgers, Jr. of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; one great-grandchild, Shayvanta Fraizer of Brundidge; and a very special daughter-in-law, Brenda Wheeler Rodgers of Brundidge.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 13, 1999 from 12:00 – 6:00.
