TPRD honors officers

Troy Parks and Recreation is holding an appreciation breakfast for law enforcement Friday in response to recent national events.

All local law enforcement officers were invited including the Troy Police Department, Troy University Police Department, Brundidge Police Department, Pike County Sheriff’s Office and local state troopers.

Unlike some other recent events that have brought the community and law enforcement together – such as a community forum, prayer vigil and “Back the Blue” picnic –  this event is intended solely for members of law enforcement and their families.

The appreciation breakfast is one of many local events held in response to rising tension in the nation involving the fatal shootings of two black men by law enforcement and the subsequent mass shootings of law enforcement officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge that left eight officers dead.
