Sybil Zorn Poland

Ms. Sybil Zorn Poland of Hartford, formerly of Slocomb, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Hartford Heath Care.  She was 81.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Slocomb with Reverend Bruce Spivey officiating and Reverend David Zorn delivering the Eulogy.  Interment will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sorrells Funeral Home in care of Ms. Poland’s family.

Ms. Poland was born November 17, 1934, in Geneva County to the late T.H. and Ethel Jackson Zorn. Sybil possessed a generous, loving, and compassionate spirit and had a contagious smile.  She enjoyed sitting outside with family and friends discussing the topic of the day as well as playing Bingo.  Sybil was a loving and adoring mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Bill Poland, one sister, and three brothers preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters: Sharon Harris Powell, Roeton Community of Coffee County, and Sandra Sizemore (Jamie), Slocomb; two grandchildren: Michelle Harris McLendon (Chris), Roeton Community, and Beth Sizemore, Slocomb; one great granddaughter, Carrie McLendon; several beloved nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
