Charles Henderson High sophomore catcher Tucker Earles blasted a two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie and give the Lady Trojans a 3-1 win over Thorsby High School Saturday morning in the Trojan Classic at the Troy Sportsplex.

Sidney Armstrong led off the inning by reaching first on an errant throw, and with two outs Earles blasted the ball over the left field fence to give CHHS the lead.

Lakin Turner was dominant on the mound for the Lady Trojans, allowing an unearned run in the top of the first inning and pitching shutout ball from there.

Turner, who recently signed a college scholarship to play at Enterprise State, struck out two, walked two and allowed only three hits to Thorsby batters on the day.

CHHS also was held in check most of the day by Thorsby pitching, with Molly Kate Sanders, Rose Snyder and Earles getting the only hits for the Lady Trojans.

Thorsby took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but CHHS tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the second when Snyder singled, stole second and scored when on a ground ball the third baseman made a wide throw to first base.
