Katherine “Katie” Ann Lee, 26, of Lake Lafayette, Missouri passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015 at home.

The family will receive friends starting at 2 p.m. for a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, July 11th at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Katie was born on August 16, 1988 in Brookwood, AL to Wendy (Stone) Lee Betts and Phillip Norton Lee. She graduated from Charles Henderson High School, Troy, AL in 2006. Katie moved from Alabama to Lake Lafayette, MO in November of 2010. She worked for the Head Start program SOAR in Odessa prior to becoming a full time student. Katie was a senior at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO working toward a degree in Elementary Education. She was Baptist by faith. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, she loved reading, writing poems, journals, listening to classic rock and going out to dine for girl’s night with her sister.

Survivors include Katie’s parents, Wendy and Mike Betts of Lake Lafayette, MO and Phillip and Amanda Lee of Troy, AL; fiancé Dennis Betts of Lake Lafayette; one sister, Hannah Lisa Lee of Lake Lafayette; maternal grandparents, Otis and Lucy Stone of Troy; and Dorothy Betts of Lake Lafayette; paternal grandmother, Ann Lee of Troy; a loved father figure, Sam Green of Glenwood, AL; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Katie was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, John Phillip Lee and maternal grandfather, Richard Betts.
