Coming off of an impromptu home game Tuesday that saw Troy University baseball down Samford, the Trojans are preparing for their regularly scheduled three-game home stand against Conference USA foe Southern Miss this weekend.

The series will open Friday at 6 p.m., continue on Saturday at 1 p.m. and cap off Sunday at 1 p.m.

On Saturday, the Trojans and Golden Eagles will play their Hits for Heroes game, which will see each team wear special camouflage uniforms. Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase T-shirts and special presentations and acknowledgements will take place throughout the game as well.

Troy (6-2) will enter the series carried by its dominant pitching staff. The Trojans place ninth in the country in team ERA at 1.51.

Troy also leads the Sun Belt Conference, allowing just a .303 batting average to opponents. The Trojans lead the NCAA in shutouts and are third in double plays.

Southern Miss (3-3) was scheduled to play ULM this week, but the game was called due to poor weather.

The Golden Eagles will look to combat Troy’s top-notch pitching with a dual-threat of batters in Dylan Burdeaux and Connor Barron. The duo is batting .393 and .357 on the season, respectively.

Admission to Saturday’s ‘Hits for Heroes’ contest will be free with donations being accepted throughout the game.
