Troy men’s basketball will continue their non-conference road trip Tuesday when they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., to take on Conference USA opponent Southern Miss.

After falling 82-60 to SEC opponent Georgia in Athens last Friday, the Trojans will look to cap their early-season road stint with a win against the Golden Eagles.

Freshman sensation Wesley Person will lead the Trojans (1-2) into Reed Green Coliseum averaging 18.5 points per game.

Three games into his college basketball career, Person has established himself as a key cog in the Trojans’ offense.

Last Monday against Ole Miss, Person scored a career-high 25 points and put up 20 in the Trojans’ loss at Georgia.

Troy has stifled opponents from beyond the three-point arc up to this point in the season, holding opponents to just 19 percent shooting on 10-of-52 shots from three-point range.

Southern Miss, who are coming off of their first loss of the season to SEC opponent Alabama after winning their first two against William Carey and South Alabama, are shooting just over 30 percent from beyond the arc and are averaging almost 74 points a game heading into Tuesday’s matchup.

This will be the first meeting between the Trojans and the Golden Eagles since 2002. Troy is 0-10 all-time against Southern Miss.

The Golden Eagles (2-1), who are in their first year under head coach Doc Saddler, also boast a 35-game home non-conference win streak.

Tip off is set for 7 p.m. and the game can be streamed on SouthernMiss.com
