Carolyn Taylor O’Steen

Carolyn Taylor O’Steen, age 92, of Troy, AL, passed away July 18, 2014. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Rev. Andrew Knick officiating. Graveside services followed in Green Hills Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. O’Steen was born December 4, 1921 in Pike County to Grover Palmer and Ora Cox Taylor. After graduating college, she dedicated 30 years as a teacher with the Fort Rucker Elementary School. Mrs. O’Steen was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener with a love for all things blooming, and a reputable cook, especially around her neighborhood. She will forever be cherished as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. O’Steen was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James William O’Steen; her parents; two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her daughters, Judy O. Ramsey (Edwin) of Clarksville, TN, Linda O. Parker of Eufaula, AL, and Carol O. Hohlbaugh of Troy, AL; grandchildren, Paige R. Gauthier (Chris), D’Lynn R. Bilbrow (Shane), Jennifer P. Crumbly (Chad), Jim Parker (Joan), and Taylor Hohlbaugh; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty T. Wilson of Conway, AK.
