The Zion Chapel Lady Rebels made a statement in the area race by downing cross-county rival New Brockton 12-0 Thursday.

Zion scored two runs in the first and tacked on five more in the second to put the Lady Gamecocks out of the game early on.

The Lady Rebels loaded the bases in the top of the first, before Caroline Brown’s shot was mishandled by the New Brockton third baseman to score Billie Copeland for the game’s first run. Zion put another run on the board in the fourth inning, before exploding for four more runs in the fifth.
