Less than 24 hours before the beginning of fall practice,multiple sources close to the program confirm Wayne Grant has resigned the head football coach position at Pike Liberal Arts, effective immediately. The sources say Grant informed the players of the decision following a workout session on Wednesday.

Grant, who won five Alabama High School Athletics Association state titles during two different stints at nearby Pike County, led the Patriots to a 1-9 record in 2012.

Assistant coach Gene Allen will serve as interim head coach until a permanent replacement is hired. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
