Every time they Troy O-Zone players take the field, they are decked head-to-toe in navy blue and gray. But the team decided to accent their wristbands in a special color in honor of a friend’s mother.

The special pink Evoshield Wrist Guards were done as a special tribute to Retta Stone, mother of Carson Mays.

Assistant coach Frank Scrabrough said the idea for the pink guards belonged to the players, who had been collecting and donating money for Stone all season.

“They started raising funds for her back during the regular season,” Scarbrough said. “They had the Team Retta shirts earlier, and this was just another step in that process. We just want to keep her in our hearts and thoughts.”

Scarbough said that the player’s love the unique wristbands, and what they represent.

“They are all about those colors,” Scarbrough said with a smile. “They get to stand out, and honor their friend’s family at the same time.”
