Rubin L. Oliver, age 76, a resident of Banks, died Saturday, June 22, 2013. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 2:00 pm from Shiloh Baptist Church with Reverend J. C. Turner and Reverend Kenneth Earles officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing. Committal rites will be performed by the Masonic Lodge.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.

Mr. Oliver served honorably as a member of the United States Army for 21 years. He was also a Master Mason and a member of the Anna Norton Lodge #569 for 43 years as well as its Past Master, and also a member of the Alcazar Shrine.

Mr. Oliver is survived by his children, Rubin Oliver, Jr. of Banks; Wanda K. Bass of Banks; Steven C. Oliver (Melissa) of Banks; William Eldridge Oliver of Banks; siblings, Tommie Ray “Red” Oliver (Dorothy) of Troy; Donna Jacobs (Ray) of Josie; Judy Nelson (Byron) of Racine, WI; Howard Oliver of River Falls, AL; Linda Duffell (Wayne) of Banks; sister-in-law, Margaret Oliver of Troy; grandchildren, Aaron Lee of Troy; Nicholas Oliver of Monroeville; Victoria Oliver of Monroeville; Savannah Oliver of Monroeville; Steven DeWayne Oliver of Newton, and Meagan Dawn Oliver of Banks; and his beloved Chihuahuas, Lil Bit, Bobo and Taco.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Elaine Oliver.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Blue Mason Lodge and the Alcazar Shrine.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the March of Dimes.
