Fresh off their final home meet of the season, the Troy Tiger Sharks Swim Team did what any team looking to improve does, they went back to work.

Tiger Sharks head coach Shane Tatum said that the team has constantly improved throughout the season, but stll has room for more as the season nears the half-way point.

“I think we need to work on conditioning,” Tatum said. “We still need to teach the proper stroke technique to maximize their potential in each event, because each event is different.”

The goal, Tatum said, is to have all the members of the Tiger Sharks ready to compete at the district meet on July 13, against Eufaula, Dothan and Andalusia.

“They have had some success the last few times out,” Tatom said. “They have begun to come together and help one another, and from now on everything we do is aimed towards being ready on July 13.”

Tatum said that he and the team will be taking a page out of the recreation baseball and softball philosophy and holding an intrasqaud meet.

Tatum feels that the meet will help his team get the competitve juices flowing, like Warm-Up Tournaments due for the ball players.

“With only four teams in the district, it can be hard to get warm-up events scheduled, Tatum said. “We can have the intrasqaud meets to keep them fresh. You can only practice so much until you have to get them in the competition setting.”
