Henry O. Motes

Mr. Henry O. Motes, age 78, of Troy, AL., went home to be with his Lord Saturday, April 20, 2013. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 23, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Minister Floyd Noble officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, beginning at noon, and burial will be at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Motes was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved animals, gardening and was an avid coon hunter. A devout Christian, he was an active member of the Mt. Olive Church of Christ and loved to sing in church.

Mr. Motes is survived by his wife, Toy Motes; two sons, Henry Daniel Motes of Destin, FL., and Terry Turner of Glenwood, AL.; three daughters, Anne Johnson (Joe) of Troy, AL., Jean Shepherd of Ridgeland, MS., and Kaye Baker (Chris) of Eufaula, AL.; three brothers, James Motes (Elizabeth), Kenneth Motes (Barbara) and Herman Motes (Delores), all of Troy; five sisters, Mary Renfroe of Cusseta, GA., Iretha Wynn of Florence, AL., Margaret Boyd (Warner) of Sprague, AL., Linda Cox (Jimmy) and Selene Dunn (Tim), both of Troy.

He leaves behind 13 grandchildren; Lee Campbell (Chris), Adam Motes (Lydia), Hali Adams (Brandon), Jason Sessions, Mitch Baker (Sheree), Claye Baker, Tanner Shepherd (Lindsay), Tony Turner (Rachael), Stephanie Sutton (Myrton), Benjamin Sanders (Cornelia), Kim Shaver (Larry), Stacy Johnson, David Johnson (Diana), as well as 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.

Pall bearers for the service will be Tim Dunn, Richard Eagerton, Bobby Boyd, Chris Campbell, Tony Turner and Mitch Baker.

The Motes family will accept flowers or donations in honor of Mr. Motes can be made to the American Lung Association.
