All of the Irish and Irish wannabe chefs are being called to the kitchen.

It’s time to get out the pots and pans and the green food coloring and put your cooking skills to the test. The annual Troy University Irish Cooking Contest will be from 11 a.m. until noon on Monday, March 18 in the Trojan Center Lobby.

Tara Morelock, contest coordinator, said there are five categories for entry, salad/appetizer, main entrée, side dish/vegetable, dessert and bread.

“Entries will be judged on taste, originality and presentation,” Morelock said. “A ‘Best of the Show’ will be award and first and second prizes will be awarded in each category.”

The Grand Prize will include a gift basket, gift certificates and four Troy University vs. Auburn baseball tickets.

“Each entry needs to be Irish,” Morelock said. “That’s what green food coloring and imaginative names are for. You may enter one or all five categories but only one entry per category.”

Those who wish to enter should send their name, address, phone number and email address and the entry categories to Tara Morelock, Office of Development, 1120 Highway 231, Troy, AL 36082 or fax the information to 334-670-5855.
