Blackmon falls short in no-hit bid, Trojans winPublished 9:23pm Tuesday, March 5, 2013
A single in the seventh inning spoiled Tripp Blackmon’s bid at a no-hitter as Charles Henderson defeated Stanhope-Elmore 9-0 in the Jason Armstrong FCA Memorial Tournament at Paterson Field in Montgomery on Tuesday.
The Trojans were the beneficiaries of eight Mustang errors.
Blackmon tossed all seven innings to earn the complete game victory. The senior struck out five and threw just 69 pitches in the effort.
Blackmon helped himself at the plate going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and an RBI.
Austin Ingram was 2-for-5 at the dish while Hunter Baggett, Chase Smartt, John Johnson and Blake Craft also had hits.
Charles Henderson will face Marbury on Thursday when the tournament continues.
