Troy Parks and Recreation will sponsor an indoor yard sale Saturday to benefit the Miracle League Playground Project.

The indoor yard sale will be from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Troy Recreation Center.

“The funds raised will support the efforts to build a new playground for children of all ages and all abilities,” said Lisa Holmes, Recreation Center programs coordinator. “The total cost of the Miracle League Playground Project will be $200,000. Thanks to a $50,000 matching funds grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund and fundraisers and donations, $118,000 has been raised.”

Holmes said the indoor yard sale will not be a huge fundraiser but every penny counts and the clock is ticking on the project.

“We are working toward a June time frame and time is moving fast,” she said.

Booth spaces for Saturday’s indoor garage sale may be purchased for $20 each. The booths include one eight-foot table and two chairs.

“Those who aren’t interested in setting up a booth but want to contribute to the indoor garage sale are invited to simply clean out their closets and bag up their donations,” Holmes said. “We will pick up donations when necessary.”

Those who wish to donate items to the Miracle League Playground Project through the indoor garage sale are asked to have the items at the recreation center by noon on Thursday in order for the items to be sorted and priced.

“We encourage everyone to shop the Miracle League benefit yard sale on Saturday,” Holmes said. “Everything will be set up inside the gym so the weather will not be a problem. There will be a variety of items – anything and everything — for sale at very affordable prices. All of the money made will go to the Miracle League Playground Project. So come out and support the efforts to build playground that will provide a safe and fun playground for our children.”
