The Alabama Department of Tourism is embarking on a BCS Championship Tour from Tuscaloosa to Auburn and Alabama residents and tourists alike are invited to come along.

The tour is highlighted by a mini-poster of an Alabama car tag celebrating the state’s four consecutive national collegiate football championships. The posters are available at tourism offices and welcome stations across the state.

The poster is tagged “4NAROW” and recognizes the BSC Championships won by the University of Alabama in 2009, Auburn University in 2010 and the University of Alabama in 2011 and 2012.

“Winning four BCS Championship is a feat that the Alabama Tourism Department wanted to honor and recognize,” said Marilyn Stamps, Tourism regional manager for South Alabama. “The mini-tag poster will put a positive spin on our state and give us another opportunity to show our pride and showcase our championship universities.”

The mini-posters are available at the Troy Tourism office in downtown Troy.

However, Shelia Jackson, tourism director, said the state tourism office only printed 12,000 of the mini-posters.

“Our supply is very limited so we encourage those who want one of the collector’s posters to visit the tourism office soon,” Jackson said.

Stamps said mini-poster and the BCS Championship Tour are part of Tourism’s Road Trip that was started last year as one of the state’s tourism promotions.

“Through the Tourism Department’s campaigns, we have celebrated our state’s food, our history, our sports, our small towns and downtowns and now we are celebrating the four BCS Championships won by Alabama and Auburn,” Stamps said.

Those who take the BCS Championship Tour will have the opportunity to see the National Championship Coaches Trophies at Alabama and Auburn and the other awards, photographs and athletic memorabilia dating back 120 years.

“In between the two campuses, is the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in downtown Birmingham,” Stamps said. “The BCS Championship Tour is one that sports fans all across the state will want to take and it will be enjoyed by sports fans from other states as well.”
