Accused Hunter’s Mountain rapist found guilty on all counts

Published 4:08pm Friday, January 18, 2013

The trial for Andre Ellis is over after three days of emotional testimony, followed by closing arguments today.

The jury only deliberated two and a half hours before returning a guilty verdict on all charges – rape first-degree, rape first-degree and burglary second-degree.

Ellis had nothing to say to media as Pike County deputies escorted him back to the Pike County Jail Friday afternoon.

Assistant District Attorney Scherryl Harrison said the State will be asking for life without parole.

I really hope justice has been served. It is a little odd to me, that there is no physical evidence in either rape case. I am in no way saying that they got the wrong guy, I wasn’t there so I don’t know. I’m just saying if I were the victim or the victim’s family I would want to be absolutely sure that he is the guy otherwise that would mean that the true rapist is still out there. I pray that these girls can move on with thier lives and that in time they will find closure somehow.

This case got the attention it deserved from the local media. However, on the 3rd of January, as listed in the arrest reports in this paper, a 35 year old ‘Doug Hail’ was arrested for molesting a child under the age of 12 and i’m left wondering why there hasn’t been any article about that yet.

My understanding is he is a repeat offender originally from and charged\convicted in the state of Texas who has lived in this area for about a decade now. Just a tip to the reporters at the Messenger, you may want to look into this story because I suspect there is a lot more to it than even what is known already. – Also he was released from jail after only 45 minutes, which is hardly enough time even to be processed and questioned about the serious charges he faces. – Once again, according to the Messenger.

Excuse me, incorrect spelling. That should have been ‘Doug Hale’.
