Defense leads Pike County to win

BRUNDIDGE, Ala. – Pike County used aggressive, suffocating defense to knock off in-county rival Goshen on Friday, 41-23.

The Bulldogs opened the game on a 10-0 run before watching Goshen tie the game 11-11 midway through the second quarter. Pike County scored the final eight points of the half with three-pointers from Ryshawn Hall and Kamari Jackson. Stevie Smiley hit a jumper to cap the run.

Goshen could only manage 12 second-half points as Pike County pulled away.

For the Bulldogs, Deshon Cowling led with 11 points. Smiley finished with 10, while Larry Sellers added five.

For Goshen, Deangelo Orum and Jamarius McIntyre scored six points each.

Pike County will travel to Elba in its next contest on Dec. 4.

Pike County and Goshen will face off in a rematch in Goshen on Dec. 7.
