Troy Football’s 2026 recruiting class continues to grow

Over the last month, Troy Football has added a number of commitments to its 2026 Recruiting Class and on July 1, the Trojans added yet another with the commitment of Greene County senior Ronald Wilder Jr.

Wilder is an Eutaw native that could probably best be described as a “Swiss Army Knife” for Greene County High School, playing a number of positions all over the field. As a junior last season, Wilder earned All-State honors as a running back with 1,902 yards and 16 touchdowns on 145 carries. He also completed 17-of-25 passes for 264 yards.

The 6-foot-1-inch, 205-pounder also starts at outside linebacker for Greene County, securing 51 tackles, two tackles-for-loss, two sacks and an interception on defense. As a sophomore in 2023, Wilder also rushed for 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns on just 96 carries. In total, he’s amassed 3,511 yards of offense and 28 touchdowns in two years of varsity football. He’s averaged 12 yards per carry as a varsity player.

Wilder committed to Troy on July 1 over offers from a number of other FBS programs, including Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Liberty, Middle Tennessee, UAB and Air Force.

Troy’s 2026 recruiting class has grown considerably over the past month and has now ballooned to 11 high school commitments and an additional three junior college (JUCO) commitments. Wilder is also Troy’s 10th in-state high school commitment as Troy Coach Gerad Parker seems to be targeting the Trojans’ home state in this recruiting cycle.

Wilder joins the list of high school commitments for the 2026 recruiting class that also includes Carmel (Ind.) quarterback Anthony Coellner, Florence cornerback Jaxon Penn, Carver-Montgomery athlete Kendarius Reynolds, Faith Academy lineman Jaxon Williams, Helena kicker Austin Lewis, Williamson defensive lineman Dontaye Bush, Dothan offensive lineman Aden Jackson, Vestavia Hills offensive lineman Parks Glaze, Auburn offensive lineman Trinton Pritchett and Gulf Shores tight end Nick Hampton.
