Pioneer Museum offers free admission and fun

The Pioneer Museum of Alabama invites all who love America to celebrate the Fourth of July in the American pioneer kind of way. From 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, the Fourth of July, admission, fun and ice cream are free.
Barbara Tatom, museum director, said, in keeping with freedoms that all Americans enjoy, there will be free activities and events throughout the day.
The museum has a shaded picnic area for those who would like to enjoy a family/friends picnic. Everyone will be invited to enjoy ice cream from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. complements of the museum.
Songs and readings to honor the spirit of Independence Day will be shared with music by Savannah Hayes, The Usual Suspects and Lenny Trawick from 12: 30 until 3:30 p.m.
Children’s Story Time will be from 12:30 until 4 p.m. in the Pioneer Schoolhouse.
The Johnson Center for the Arts will host arts and crafts activities and a scavenger hunt for kids who enjoy a fun-kind of challenge.
Adam’s General Store will be open throughout the day with a knowledgeable storekeeper, who will make the visit entertaining and memorable.
The museum’s gift shop has a selection of old-time toys that will entertain and challenge school- age kids including yo-yo’s, u-fly balsa wood gliders, puddle jumpers and finger tops. The toys offer kids the opportunity to experience the same challenging toys as the pioneer children.
“The Pioneer Museum of Alabama invites all ages to spend a part of the 2025 Fourth of July, or the entire day, celebrating America as in yesteryear,” Tatom said.
