On June 25, former Troy softball player Leah Brundidge passed away at the young age of 31, and funeral services will be held on July 5.
Brundidge is the daughter of legendary former Troy running back Eddie Brundidge, who helped the Trojans to the 1984 Division II National Championship. He was also the first Trojan runner to ever surpass 200 yards rushing in a game.
Leah Brundidge followed in her fathers footsteps as an athlete. She was a star softball player at TR Miller before moving on to playing for Troy, as well. As a senior, she held a .333 batting average and played in a total of 108 games during her Trojan career.
Brundidge went on to serve as Troy University Athletics Director of Compliance and as an adjunct instructor for a number of years. She earned her PhD in sports management from Troy in 2022 and joined the staff at Southern Miss as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance in 2022. She moved on to a role with Boehringer Ingelheim as a senior field sales development representative in 2024.
The Brundidge family is establishing a scholarship fund in honor of Leah Brundidge and is asking for donations to be made in support of the establishment of that scholarship fund in lieu of flowers. Public Visitation for Brundidge will be held at Presley-Fluker Funeral Home in Brewton July 4 at 4 p.m. The funeral service is at 2:30 p.m. on July 5 at Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
