Troy Basketball got some big news from a local source on Monday when rising Enterprise senior Tucker Wadsworth announced his decision to commit to Troy University.
Wadsworth committed to Troy on June 30, making the decision to commit to the school that offered him a scholarship before any other Division I program.
“They’ve recruited me since my freshman year and showed me an unbelievable amount of love,” Wadsworth said of committing to Troy. “I love the staff and I thought this was the time to get it done and commit.”
Wadsworth is a 6-foot-5-inch guard that earned All-State honors as a sophomore in 2024 and as a junior this past season. He was also named Dothan Eagle Super 12 this past season as he averaged 11.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game as a junior. He committed to Troy over offers from other schools like South Florida and Stetson.
“The fact that it’s right up the road, basically in my backyard, was big for me,” Wadsworth said. “I love the players on the team and I know a bunch of people there. It just feels like a home away from home.”
Wadsworth also has high regard for Troy head coach Scott Cross.
“He had a lot of impact on my decision,” Wadsworth said of Cross. “He’s been recruiting me since my freshman year and I really love him. He’s a great guy and I love his family, I’m pretty close with most of his kids. I’m just ready to get there and play for him.”
Heading into his senior season of high school, Wadsworth has one goal in mind.
“This is my last go around and a state championship is the only goal I’m focused on,” he flatly said.
He’s also already set his goals for when he gets on campus at Troy.
“I want to get on the court early but I know a lot of freshmen don’t get to play, so I’m willing to redshirt and wait my turn,” he continued. “I want to win a Sun Belt Championship, though. I want to be able to play on the biggest stage in the world, March Madness. That’s my biggest goal.’
