Pike County’s Fourth of July celebration gets off to an early/fast start (3 p.m.) Saturday in the City of Brundidge with a car show, arts, crafts and food vendors on the grounds of the Historic Bass House.
At 6 p.m., the city’s annual Independence Day Parade will follow Main Street through downtown Brundidge. The parade will feature kids and queens and any and everything with a motor and wheels including vintage and new cars and trucks, a tractor or two, fishing boats and floats. There will be music and dancing and surprises of different kinds.
Everyone is invited to stay around for supper along Main Street eateries or on the Bass House grounds.
The city’s Fourth of July Celebration will continue with the city’s biggest fireworks extravaganza to date with front-row viewing at Bulldog Stadium around around 8 p.m.
Brundidge City Manager Willie Wright said, although the stadium will be a central location for viewing the fireworks show, the fireworks can also be viewed from the downtown area and several residential areas in the downtown area.
Wright reminds all ages that safety comes first with fireworks.
