This week, Troy Regional Medical Center was named one of America’s Best Small Hospitals for Comprehensive Care in 2025 by the Women’s Choice Award organization. 

Troy Regional was in the top 1 percent of small hospitals in the category, which is for hospitals that have 25-100 beds. The Women’s Choice Award identifies America’s best hospitals and healthcare facilities based on criteria that includes relevant clinical performance, patient satisfaction and appropriate accreditation to help women make smart healthcare choices. 

“We are very pleased to receive this second recognition from the Women’s Choice Award,” said Troy Regional CEO Rick Smith. “We take our responsibility very seriously to provide the best quality of care possible to each of our patients. Our team works hard to provide comprehensive care in a compassionate, clean and safe environment. As a small hospital, we understand we cannot do everything, but what we do, we do very well. We are so proud to serve Pike County and surrounding communities with healthcare close to home.”

Facilities are identified that demonstrate the highest level of quality care to patients, with a focus on the female experience. The Women’s Choice Award uses publicly available data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient satisfaction survey results, relevant accreditation information and the American Hospital Directory. 

Troy Regional has had a banner year in terms of awards and recognitions already as the hospital also received the 2025 Women’s Choice Award for Best Emergency Care earlier this year along with being recognized as a Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital, the only hospital in the State of Alabama to earn that recognition. Troy Regional also earned 5-star ratings for cleanliness and quietness from Becker’s Hospital Review. Troy Regional has also made the list of 705 hospitals nationwide that patients highly recommend. Troy Regional’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center also received dual recognition with Clinical Distinction and Excellence in Patience Satisfaction Awards from RetorixHealth.
