Fourth of July celebrations in Pike County begin Saturday

In the United States each year, the Fourth of July commemorates the passage of the Declaration of Independence by Congress in 1776, which officially declared that the 13 established colonies were then legally separate from Great Britain, one of the motivating factors of the first Pilgrims arriving in 1620 to pursue religious freedom.

Being so, on the Fourth of July, Americans in every hill and hollow will celebrate America’s Independence.

And, in Pike County, Alabama, the celebration will begin early in Brundidge on Saturday and will continue in Meeksville on the Fourth of July weekend and wind down spectacularly with the huge fireworks display in Troy on the Fourth of July.

The City of Brundidge will get Pike County’s Fourth of July 2025 celebration underway at 10 a.m. Saturday on the grounds of the Historic Bass House with arts, crafts and food vendors.  The celebration will feature the city’s car show at 3 p.m. along with the continuation of food, fun and the fellowship of the Fourth of July.

The downtown activities will continue with the city’s Fourth of July Main Street parade at 6 p.m. followed by the city’s biggest firework shows to date with viewing at Bulldog Stadium around 8 p.m.

Brundidge City Manager Willie Wright said, although the stadium will be a central location for viewing the fireworks show, the fireworks may also be viewed from the downtown and in several residential areas in the downtown area.
