Five running for Brundidge mayor

The race for mayor in Brundidge will be hotly contested in August.
Incumbent Brundidge Mayor Isabell Boyd will have four challengers in the Aug. 26 municipal election. Tuesday is the last day to qualify for municipal elections. Boyd qualified for re-election in August and will be challenged by Eric T. Spitzer, Anthony Foster, Mike McNally and Henry Wilson.
In addition, three of the five council seats will be challenged as well.
In District 1, Dixie Shehane and Arlen Sneed have qualified. The incumbent councilmember is Gerald Holland.
In District 2, Marla Boykin, James Rode and Alexandria Griffin have qualified. Latisher Hall is the current incumbent.
In District 3, incumbent Margaret Ross is being challenged by Henry Hendock Everett.
In District 4, incumbent Byron Gaynor is the only qualifier.
In District 5, incumbent Marilyn Rodgers, Ira Lampley and James Jones have qualified.
The deadline to apply for the City of Brundidge municipal election was Tuesday, June 24, at 5 p.m.
