Troy Softball signs three transfers

Last week, the Troy Trojans softball team announced the signing of three transfer players, who previously committed to Troy.

The signings include former Michigan State pitcher Ella Cunningham, former UTSA catcher Karlee Rochinski and former South Alabama outfielder Amity White. 

White, a Brundidge native, earned All-State honors at Pike Liberal Arts School and also All-State as a senior at Pike County. As a senior, White also earned All-Messenger Player of the Year honors, boasting a .373 batting average with four doubles, two triples, 18 stolen bases, 28 runs and 12 RBIs. She also held a .949 fielding percentage with 36 putouts and one assist. 

White started her college career at South Alabama, earning Academic All-America honors as a freshman in 2024. She played in 20 games as a freshman, earning a .222 batting average with two doubles, one homer, four RBIs and five runs. This past season, White started 44 games and held a .252 batting average with six doubles, one triple, 15 RBIs, 18 runs and three stolen bases. She also held a .941 fielding percentage with 63 putouts and one assist in the outfield.   

Cunningham is a native of Cleveland, Tenn., where she was a High School All-American for Silverdale Baptist School. She was named the MaxPreps Tennessee Player of the Year as a senior, also earning MaxPreps and NFCA High School All-American honors.   

She struck out 368 batters as a senior, breaking her school record. She also helped lead her school to two State Championships and was a two-way star, boasting a .585 batting average with 17 home runs and 55 RBIs as a senior. She also held an eye-popping 0.58 ERA in 192 and 1/3 innings pitched.   

As a freshman at Michigan State this past season, Cunningham pitched in five games and struck out one batter. Cunningham will come to Troy with three years of eligibility remaining.   

Rochinski was one of the top players behind the plate this season, ranking sixth in the entire country in runners caught stealing. She’s a Montgomery, Texas, native that earned Academic All-District four times in high school along with being a High School All-American, 5A Defensive Player of the Year and SBLive Defensive Player of the Year. Both her mother and father were also college athletes.   

Rochinski started her college career at UTSA, playing in 27 games as a freshman in 2024. She earned 50 putouts and 11 assists with three runners caught stealing. This season, she played in 55 games and tallied 196 putouts, 34 assists and 20 runners caught stealing. She also held a .268 batting average with a .444 on-base percentage, five doubles, two home runs, 17 RBIs and 19 runs. She will come to Troy with two years of eligibility remaining.   

Troy also previously announced the signing of JUCO All-American Sophia Jenkins. Jenkins was one of the top junior college (JUCO) players in the country this season with Grayson College. She hit 30 home runs and set the school record with 108 RBIs on a .438 batting average.
