Gas prices on the rise

The national gas price average took a big leap during the past week, climbing 8-cents from $3.14 to $3.22. 

In Alabama, the rise in the average price per gallon climbed more than the national average. This Monday, Alabama’s average price for regular gas was $2.85 per gallon, up 9-cents from last Monday’s $2.74 average. 

On Monday, GasBuddy.com reported prices in Troy ranging from a low of $2.81 to a high of $2.95. Prices in surrounding towns were: Ozark, $2.59 to $2.79; Luverne no reported prices, Union Springs reported at $2.99; Dothan ranged from $2.63 to $2.75; Montgomery ranged from $2.69 to $2.70.

Last Monday, GasBuddy.com reported prices in Troy ranging from a low of $2.70 to a high of $2.75. Prices in surrounding towns were: Ozark, $2.54 to $2.69; Luverne reported at $2.87, Union Springs reported at $2.79; Dothan ranged from $2.57 to $2.69; Montgomery ranged from $2.46 to $2.65.

Nationally, Alabama had one of the lowest averages in the nation with $2.85. Prices in contiguous states were: Mississippi, $2.73; Tennessee, $2.85; Georgia, $2.96 and Florida, $3.09.

The highest recorded average price per gallon for regular in Alabama was $4.63 on June 14, 2022.
