This past weekend, the Troy 12U Rookie All-Stars traveled to Montgomery and swept their way to a State Championship.

Troy’s 12U Rookie All-Stars came into the tournament fired up after a misstep in preparation.

“We did one practice tournament here where we played well and then had a few scrimmage games where we didn’t play well at all,” 12U Rookie Head Coach Jonathan Cellon said. “We kind of had a heart to heart and challenged the boys to step it up. To their credit, they did just that and I think they proved how good they can be if they played together.”

In the state tournament, Troy went 3-0 with two wins over Rehobeth and one over Dothan. The Troy Rookie All-Stars beat Rehobeth 9-1 and 12-5 in their games and topped Dothan 12-3.

“We played three games and scored 33 runs and gave up nine, so I think that’s pretty good,” Cellon said. “I think we gave up maybe one error in the entirety of the tournament. Everyone hit and contributed on the offensive side. We had a few challenges but I think they learned a lot about themselves in terms of how good they can be. I thought they did really, really well.”

The 12U Rookie All-Star team consisted of Ellis Adamson, Kasen Lewis, Will Johnson, Chandler Jackson, Logan Potter, James Spann, Will Cellon, Weston Weeks, Landon Linton, Trace Russell and Rayshaun Allen. The All-Stars were coached by Jonathan Cellon, Henry Lewis and Joe Johnson.
