The Troy 12U Ozone All-Stars dominated district play with wins against Eufaula (25-1), Luverne (12-1), and Greenville (9-1), and now are headed to Lagoon Park in Montgomery on June 25 to compete for a state title.
“We hit the ball well and played excellent defense,” said coach Adam Brookins, reflecting on their strong district performance.
This team is not only talented but also surrounded by team chemistry, with many players who have played alongside one another since first picking up a glove.
“All of these boys have played together since they were six years old,” Brookins added. “They are all close and good friends, and at practice, they are there to compete.”
The team practices multiple times a week, focusing heavily on offense.
“We hit, hit, and do more hitting,” exclaimed Brookins. “Last Saturday, we conducted a live bullpen session so that our players could see live pitching.”
As Brookins looks ahead to the state competition, he knows that the level of competition will increase.
“Opelika always has a strong team, and Southeastern, which is based in Montgomery, is also competitive,” Brookins pointed out.
But there’s a strong belief in this group—and for good reason.
“These boys have won multiple state championships,” Brookins said. “And when you look at all the all-star teams that have ever come through Troy, this team would be at the top of most.”
The team is led by coaches Adam Brookins, Trey Houlton, and Michael Precise.
