The Troy Angels defeated Enterprise 13-1 in the district championship in Geneva on Monday, capping off a 5-0 run in the district tournament.

“I felt like they played really well,” Angels head coach Matt Raitit said. “We scored 60 runs and only gave up five the entire tournament. I thought we did pretty well.”

The 10U Angels are made up of Paisley Raiti, Birdy Stephens, Collins Folmar, Za’Laiya Reynolds, Kensley Wallace, Emri Ramirez, Andi Smith, Claire Dixon, Brooklyn Sasser, Kinsley Cox, Emma Stone and Cate Barron. The coaches are Matt Raiti, Blake Folmar and Paul Cox.

The Angels will head to Montgomery on June 26 to compete in the 10U State Softball Tournament.

“I just want to see them keep competing the way they have been,” Matt Raitit said. “Consistency, that’s the main thing for us; just stay consistent.”
The Troy 8U Darlings also went 5-0 in their district tournament in Geneva, defeating Greenville in the championship game this past Saturday.

“I was really proud of them,” head coach Will Starling said. “I’m always proud of them but we had some question marks coming in and they answered a lot of those questions defensively. I knew our strong suit was going to be hitting but I think the most I was proud of was how we played on defense. We have a really good group and I think if we keep working, we have a chance to do some good things (at state).”

The Troy Darlings are made up of Sawyer Blair, Madelyn Crowe, Mary George Crowe, Madi Davis, Kinsley Jackson, Zoey King, Colin Pugh, Tuner Rhodes, Ansley Starling, Zaylie Sullins, Ivey Webb and Kynslee Wilkerson.

The Darlings will head to Montgomery on June 27 to compete in the state tournament, with a chance at a World Series appearance on the line.

“I want to see us clean up and keep working on things,” Starling said. “Just play the way I know we can play and not doing too much and have fun and play relaxed, those are the keys. We need to play as a team. We have a really good group of girls on our team and they’re really close and I just want to see them play loose and have fun and get out there and play some ball.”
