ALERT: “A Bad Case of the Stripes” hit The Studio in downtown Troy around noon on Friday. Stripes is a highly contagious condition that usually affects children causing them to laugh, sing, dance and to lose all stage fright.

At that time, The Studio was filled with parents who had come to support their children who, just might experience a twinge of stage fright.

However, Rebekah Alexander, JAC lead for visual arts, said there was none of that. The kids took the stage and, if they had any had jitters, it was not noticeable.

However, the adults, were exposed to a Bad Case the Stripes during the performance, and began to laugh and clap and almost dance in their chairs.

Alexander said “A Bad Case of Stripes” teaches a lesson about the importance of being one’s true self through a lima bean.

Prior to Friday’ stage performance, Vinyl Records were introduced to the kids and they were challenged to design their own vinyl record with odds and ends items.

“A Bad Case of the Stripes” was a summer program for kids as a part of the Johnson Center for the Arts summer program.

The Johnson Center offers a variety of arts and crafts opportunities for all ages throughout the year. Visit the JCA on East Walnut Street in downtown for information about the summer and following programs
