Ariton woman Annie Huffstutler, 42, has been charged with the murder of her own husband, according to Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum.

Bynum confirmed the charges to WTVY on Saturday. Allegedly, Huffstutler shot her 38-year-old husband Shawn Chistopher Watson as he slept on Saturday. Bynum said that the Dale County Sheriff Office received the call about the shooting at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.

According to Bynum, evidence showed that Huffstutler shot Watson as he slept in their home in Ariton. Additionally, five children were believed to be in the home at the time of the shooting, though none witnessed the alleged murder.
Huffstutler is being held in the Dale County Jail without bond, pending an initial court appearance.
