At the June 10 Troy City Council Meeting, the council and Mayor Jason Reeves recognized the City of Troy’s Pageant Queens.

The Queens were all introduced to the city council and given City of Troy pins to wear on their pageant sashes by Reeves and the Council. The Queens recognized were Tiny Miss Troy Caroline Hughes, Future Little Miss Troy Everly Lloyd McLendon, Little Miss Troy Clarke Duke, Petite Miss Troy Madison Carroll, Young Miss Troy Grace Royal, Miss Spirit of Troy Madelyn Gregory, Junior Miss Troy Reagan Chandler and Miss Troy Jordan Ogleclark. The Queen’s Directors include Erikka Knight and Meredith Wesley.

In other business, Rike’s Burgers and Brew was unanimously approved for a restaurant retail liquor license. The new restaurant will be located in downtown Troy at 72 No. Court Square, the location where Bayou la Roux previously sat.

This will be the owners of the restaurant’s third restaurant to be opened in Troy. The family also owns and operates Rike’s Tacos on Elba Highway and Trojan Donuts on Highway 231.

Also, the council approved the surplus of a 2004 Freightliner Pumper Firetruck and 1,000-foot of five-inch hose to go along with the sale or trade of the vehicle. The council also surplused nine sets of bleachers that were damaged in the tornado that hit the Troy SportsPlex earlier this year. The bleachers will be sold for scrap metal.

Troy City Council will hold its next meeting on June 24. A public work session will be held upstairs at Troy City Hall at 4 p.m. followed by the public meeting at 5 p.m. in the council chambers at city hall.
