Troy Baseball lands big commitment from former Indiana infielder Josh Pyne

The Troy Trojans got some good news on Tuesday night when former Indiana star infielder Josh Pyne announced his commitment to transfer to Troy.
Pyne is one of the most decorated players in recent Indiana history, coming to Troy fifth all-time in Indiana history in doubles and 15th in school history in total hits. Pyne is coming off a season-ending injury that cost him the 2025 season after just five games. He will come to Troy as a grad transfer with one year of eligibility remaining.
Pyne is a Bloomfield, Ind., native, that played high school baseball at Linton-Stockton High School. He was rated as The No. 14 overall prospect in his recruiting class and the No. 2 shortstop in Indiana by Perfect Game. He was a four-time team captain and earned All-State honors as s senior. He also broke his school’s single-season hits record with 50.
As a freshman at Indiana in 2022, Pyne earned Freshman All-America and Big 10 All-Freshman honors after finishing No. 64 nationally with 20 doubles. He earned a .327 batting average with 20 doubles, one triple, six home runs, 57 RBIs and 41 runs.
He also earned Third-Team All-Big Ten at third base in 2023. He held a .295 batting average with 16 doubles, two triples, six homers, 56 RBIs and a career-high 50 runs.
In 2024, Pyne finished second in the Big 10 in doubles and in the Top 25 in the country in doubles. He held a .291 batting average with a career-high 22 doubles, three homers, 39 RBIs and 41 runs. He also stole a career-high seven bases. Against Troy in 2024, Pyne went 4-for-5 at the plate with an RBI and 2 runs on March 10, 2024.
For his Indiana career, Pyne held a .300 batting average with 58 doubles, three triples, 15 home runs, 152 RBIs and 133 runs. In the field, he held a .922 fielding percentage with 108 putouts, 282 assists and 15 double plays.
